About The Position

This posting is for a Student Part-Time Professor for the course DVM 4120 International Development Issues in Africa (3 units) during the 2027 Winter Semester. The course will cover the historical perspective on international development in Africa, including colonialism, political regimes, population, and conflicts. It will also explore current and emerging issues linked to international development initiatives in Africa, such as health, education, food security, economy, human rights, and development strategies. The course component is a seminar and will be taught in English.

Requirements

  • Ph.D completed or in progress, or, equivalent experience in the field of social sciences and International Development.
  • Submit a one-to-two page proposal on an important topic, outlining how they would teach this course (theme, content, literature, pedagogy).
  • Successfully complete all mandatory legislated training.

Nice To Haves

  • University teaching experience is an asset.
  • An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the course DVM 4120 International Development Issues in Africa.
  • Develop and deliver course content including themes, literature, and pedagogy.
  • Conduct the course as a seminar.
  • Complete all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.
