About The Position

The University of Ottawa is seeking a Student Part-Time Professor to teach DVM 3350 Current Theories of International Development (3 units) during the 2027 Winter Semester. This course involves the presentation and critical analysis of current theories and their uses in the field of international development, including human development and capability theories, neo-institutional theories, post-colonial theories, post-development theories, political ecology theories, and their links to current feminist theories. The course component is a lecture and will be delivered in person on Wednesdays from 1:00 PM to 2:20 PM and Fridays from 11:30 AM to 12:50 PM. Prerequisites include DVM 2105, DVM 2106, and 48 university course units.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. completed or in progress, or, equivalent experience in the field of social sciences and International Development.
  • DVM 2105, DVM 2106, and 48 university course units.
  • Submit a one-to-two page proposal on an important topic, outlining how they would teach this course (theme, content, literature, pedagogy).

Nice To Haves

  • University teaching experience is an asset.
  • An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.

Responsibilities
