About The Position

This posting is for a Student Part-Time Professor for the course POL3510 A00, titled "Pensée politique non occidentale" (Non-Western Political Thought). The course will study non-Western political thought from regions such as Asia, Africa, and the Muslim world, including critical non-Western thoughts, particularly anti-colonial and post-colonial perspectives, and critiques of liberalism and neo-traditionalism. The course is scheduled for the Fall 2026 semester and will be taught in French. The expected enrollment is 88 students. The course will be offered in person, but the mode of instruction may change due to health or other reasons. Requirements

  • Doctorate or doctoral coursework in the field of the announced course.
  • Teaching experience in the field.
  • This course is posted for PhD students.
  • Clearly indicate skills and qualifications in the CV.
  • Applicants who have never taught at the University of Ottawa should submit information describing their previous teaching experience or training in their CV or supplementary documents (as per article 10.9.2).
  • Competence in French is required.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the course "Pensée politique non occidentale" (POL3510 A00) in French.
  • Provide instruction during scheduled class times: Tuesdays from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM and Fridays from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
  • Potentially adapt teaching methods based on health or other circumstances.
  • Complete all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.
  • Adhere to the collective agreements of APTPUO.
