About The Position

This posting is for a new position as a Student Part-Time Professor for the SOC2106 B00 section of Introduction to Deviance and Social Problems during the 2027 Winter Semester. The course involves a sociological investigation of deviance and social problems, including theory and research in specific areas such as poverty, crime, and mental illness. The position is limited to students who qualify as Student Part-Time Professors. The academic year runs from September 1 to August 31. The provided rates do not include vacation or statutory pay and will be applied until a new collective agreement is ratified, with retroactivity paid after ratification. The course is taught in English and is scheduled to meet in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 17:30 to 19:00.

Requirements

  • M.A. in sociology or more advanced training in sociology.
  • Demonstrable track record of expertise in the field of introduction to Deviance and Social Problems, evidenced by previous teaching experience in the same or similar course or through publications in the field.
  • Must be a Student Part-Time Professor.
  • Must successfully complete all mandatory legislated training.

Nice To Haves

  • Competence in a second language (passive).

Responsibilities
