About The Position

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Nursing Student Patient Care Technician provides direct care to patients and families in a developmentally, culturally, and ethically appropriate manner. The role contributes to high-quality, cost-effective healthcare through direct patient care and collaboration with other health team members. The technician protects patient confidentiality, uses safe patient-handling practices, communicates activities and observations to the RN, and reports changes in patient status. The role also helps maintain a neat and clean patient environment.

Requirements

Enrollment in an accredited Registered Nursing Program.
Completion of Nursing Fundamentals coursework, verified by transcript.
AHA Healthcare Provider BLS Certification before hire or completion during orientation.
Provide a school transcript verifying completion of the Nursing Fundamentals course.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide hygiene care, including skin care, bathing, and toileting, according to safety guidelines and training.
Assist patients with ambulation and transportation according to established safety guidelines.
Assist with feeding patients and offering fluids and snacks; record amounts consumed.
Respond promptly to call lights and requests from patients and families.
Assist with stocking supplies and maintain a clean working environment.
Assist coworkers and healthcare providers in meeting patient care needs.
Perform point-of-care testing as trained and delegated by the RN, and report lab values to the RN.
Accurately document vital signs and inform the nurse of changes in patient status.
Provide and document compassionate comfort and non-pharmacological pain management measures.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information and communicate activities performed and observations to the RN.
Perform other duties as assigned.
