About The Position

Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital is seeking a PRN Student Nurse Tech to join their team. This role provides multi-skilled, direct patient care under the direction and supervision of a registered professional nurse. The hospital is a newly built, 100-bed facility specializing in short-stay surgical procedures and is known for outstanding patient care. The Med/Surg 2 unit manages patients with Orthopedic, Spine, Urological, Plastics, and other general post-surgical conditions, providing advanced training to maintain nurses at the highest level of functioning. The unit operates with a multidisciplinary team including a clinical manager, lead charge nurse, case manager, social worker, physical therapist, dietitian, and pharmacist.

Requirements

• Completed first semester of nursing program and a clinical.
• Enrolled in an accredited RN program.
• No Experience required.
• No Supervisor Experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Enrolled in an accredited BSN program.

Responsibilities

• Assists nurse with patient and family education.
• Documents all patient care activities provided with correct medical terminology.
• Acts as 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
• Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs.
• Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nursing team.
• Collects clinical data and information on patients and reports abnormal findings to the nurse.
• Instructs patients in preparations for tests and procedures.
