About The Position

Center for Humanistic Change, Inc. (CHC), a Bethlehem, Pennsylvania nonprofit, seeks a part-time Student Mentor for its in-school youth mentoring program during the 2026–2027 school year. The role supports students through social-emotional learning, prevention education, and practical skills that help build resiliency and promote school success, including improved grades and attendance and fewer disciplinary incidents. Mentors work with students who may be considered at risk and must relate well to children and adults while working independently and as part of a team. Mentors work a full school day of approximately seven hours, with start and end times determined by school needs. Positions are available one to four days per week based on school assignments, and total part-time hours will not exceed 29.5 per week. Occasional attendance at school open houses, back-to-school nights, or teacher conferences may be required. Additional hourly prevention education work may be available depending on the candidate’s interests and skills and CHC’s resources. The role includes managing paperwork deadlines and electronic data entry. Mentors must use Google Suite to create and share documents, spreadsheets, and files; familiarity with Google Suite or the ability to learn it is preferred. If schools suspend in-person programming but allow it through electronic platforms such as Zoom or other CHC-approved methods during emergency closures, mentors must be willing and able to fulfill the role through those methods. Applicants must submit a resume and cover letter. Staff must obtain and maintain required state and local trainings and clearances, including Pennsylvania Child Abuse History clearance, Pennsylvania State Police background clearance, FBI fingerprint-based background check, and mandated child abuse reporter training. Additional training may be required. Applicants must have mobile and home internet access, reliable transportation, and the ability to do light lifting to transport files and other materials between the office and school. CHC is an equal employment opportunity employer and complies with applicable reasonable-accommodation laws.
