About The Position

Federal work-study students only. University Annual Giving & Stewardship in the Office of Engagement is seeking applications for a federal work-study student employee who wants to learn more about fundraising and annual giving at UVA! This position will report to the Assistant Director of Content Creation, Direct Marketing. This posting is for the fall 2026 and spring 2027 semesters. Work will be remote. There will be periodic opportunities for in-person collaboration and responsibilities. Rate of pay: $19.50/hour. Scheduling: Up to 20 hours a week; a minimum of 10 hours a week.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be eligible for student employment and work-study (FWS).
  • Resume and writing sample required.
  • Current UVA student.
  • Federal work-study eligible.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Curiosity to meet people and learn their stories.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Write direct marketing appeals, impact pieces, and social media posts.
  • Edit and proof drafts.
  • Collect and write stories about UVA's alumni, students, faculty, staff, and donors.
  • Other similar duties may be assigned within the Office of Engagement.
