A significant portion of the position will involve supporting content development for Tulane Surgery and the Tulane Weight Loss Center, including helping build and maintain social media content calendars, brainstorming content ideas, drafting captions, creating graphics, and editing short-form video content. The student will not independently manage departmental social media accounts or be responsible for publishing content. Instead, they will assist with the planning and creation of content under the direction and review of the Department of Surgery’s Marketing & Communications Specialist. Additional responsibilities may include contributing content for the department’s monthly newsletter; assisting with departmental events and promotional efforts; supporting employee recognition initiatives such as birthdays, work anniversaries, and accomplishments; and helping organize, review, and update physician, clinical, and program information as the School of Medicine continues its branding and website transition. This position is ideal for a student interested in gaining practical experience in marketing, communications, social media, public relations, graphic design, or related fields within a large academic and healthcare environment.
