About The Position

Entergy’s Transmission Department will hire an intern/co-op studying Electrical, Mechanical and/or Civil Engineering that are in their 3rd or 4th year of school or enrolled in graduate studies with a minimum GPA of 3.0. This position involves assisting engineers in day-to-day activities, performing project scoping and site visits, reviewing Transmission Line encroachments, preparing operational one-line drawings, managing the network model and deployment of facility rating changes, creating detailed models to improve the State Estimator, validating estimating prices and equipment units, managing projects in construction, completing as-built documentation, participating in weekly planning coordination calls, working on special projects to improve grid reliability, responding to equipment failures, NERC Clearance Remediation, Transmission Line database management, and supporting Business Analyst processes within Project Controls through data mining and reporting. The role also includes performing detailed engineering analysis in transmission-related areas such as planning, economic analysis, maintenance, design, project management and construction, and operations. Travel is required for the position. The intern will use engineering principles to solve problems, develop cost-effective, technically sound solutions, and apply knowledge of engineering principles in evaluating the transmission grid. They will work with other disciplines within the Transmission organization and other business units, and utilize various power system software packages (Steady State, Stability and/or Electric Market Analysis) to evaluate the transmission grid's performance. Assistance with storm/emergency restoration efforts may be required as necessary.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in school full-time, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering (other engineering majors can be considered)
• Enrolled in sophomore year or beyond
• Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher (on a 4.0 scale)
• Authorization to work in the United States is a precondition to employment in this position.

Responsibilities

• Performing project scoping and site visits
• Review of Transmission Line encroachments
