About The Position

This Student, Intern position supports Distribution Operations by assisting with day‑to‑day activities, contributing to ongoing team projects, and gaining hands-on experience through meaningful, real‑world assignments. Distribution Engineering plays a critical role in developing, maintaining, and validating the Business Unit’s adherence to policies and procedures while fostering a customer‑focused, safety‑driven, and continuously improving work environment. As an intern, the selected candidate will collaborate with operations and cross‑functional partners, build professional working relationships, and support key initiatives that serve to enhance the Safety and Reliability of Entergy Arkansas.

Requirements

Candidates must be actively enrolled and pursuing a bachelors, masters or doctorate degree in an Engineering discipline from a four-year institution (for the duration of their internship).
At the time of hire, the selected candidate must be at minimum classified as a sophomore or beyond.
Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 (on a 4.0 scale), verified through an official transcript from the previous semester.
General electrical or mechanical engineering knowledge
Self-starter with strong analytical and communication skills
Must be proficient in MS office tools - Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Excellent organizational skills
Strong and positive team attitude and interpersonal skills
Ability to prioritize work and to handle multiple tasks
Ability to understand scope and objective of each assignment
Authorization to work in the United States is a precondition to employment in this position.

Candidates majoring in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering as indicated above. ( Other engineering majors may be considered.)
Candidates who will be classified as a junior or beyond at the time of hire.

Responsibilities

Provides support to Distribution Engineering day-to-day tasks
Travel to work sites within Entergy service territories
Support the Development, Delivery and Deployment of assigned Management System components to all applicable business units
Develop and monitor observation tools, indicators and actions related to Management System compliance
Assist or complete design of jobs that require the use of Asset Management Databases and GDT
Performing design based on project scoping and site visits
Utilizing design software to model surveyed field configurations
Preparing operational one-line drawings
Validate estimating prices and equipment units, ensuring material is properly ordered
Managing projects that are to be delivered to construction
Participate in weekly planning coordination calls
Work on special projects to assist in improving grid reliability
Responding to equipment failures
Asset Management database management
Support of business analytic processes through data mining and reporting, as well as performing a wide variety of detailed engineering analysis in transmission-related areas such as planning, economic analysis, design & project management.
