About The Position

The Student Intern, Food Services reports to the food services supervisor or designee. The intern assists cooks and cook helpers with preparing student meals in compliance with government and management directives. The position also includes cleanup and sanitation, stocking and transferring ingredients, and assigned tasks in the student snack bar and Admin Building. Applicants must be current Job Corps students.

Requirements

• Must be a current Job Corps student.
• Must be a completer and ready for work-based learning.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be reliable and willing to work mornings or evenings and some weekends.
• Qualified students must have, at a minimum, their student card.

Nice To Haves

• Currently enrolled in the Culinary Arts program is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist cooks and cook helpers in preparing student meals in compliance with government and management directives.
• Perform cleanup and sanitation duties in food preparation, storage, and dish room areas to maintain health standards.
• Ensure an adequate supply of food and transfer merchandise ingredients to the cooking area as instructed by the cook or designee.
• Perform student snack bar duties, clean the outside area, and complete other duties as assigned in the Admin Building.
