About The Position

The Honors College is seeking enthusiastic student leaders to serve as Student Honors Associates in various roles, including Peer Mentor, Diversity Coordinator, First-Year Peer Mentoring Coordinator, Lateral Entry Peer Mentoring Coordinator, Nunemaker Events Coordinator, and Lead Student Honors Associate. These positions offer an excellent opportunity to develop leadership skills, foster community, and promote diversity and inclusion within the Honors College. The Honors College provides a dynamic academic and social environment that values intellectual curiosity, inclusive excellence, and leadership development. Student Honors Associates will collaborate with peers to create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive community for all Honors students.

Requirements

  • Must be a current Honors College student in good academic standing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • A commitment to collaboration, leadership, and inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Summer Outreach
  • Orientation Leadership
  • Ongoing Mentorship
  • Host identity-based dialogues and discussions.
  • Create and implement resources to support historically excluded groups.
  • Develop programs that highlight diverse perspectives and experiences.
  • Recruit and train mentors for first-year students.
  • Match mentor/mentee pairs and organize kickoff and reflection events.
  • Provide support and resources to peer mentors and mentees.
  • Organize meet-and-greet events and tailored communications.
  • Maintain mentor-mentee relationships and provide continued support for lateral-entry students.
  • Organize fun and engaging events such as movie nights, discussion groups, and service projects.
  • Collaborate with other Honors students to create memorable, community-building experiences.
  • Lead team meetings and help onboard new student associates.
  • Assist with program evaluations and ensure smooth operation of Honors College activities.
