About The Position

The Ingram Honors College is seeking a student worker who is passionate about community service and is eager to translate their passion into action. The student worker will assist the college in coordinating, organizing, and leading various service projects/opportunities throughout the year alongside their fellow honors students as well as documenting and tracking all service activities and their impact.

Requirements

  • Must possess excellent professional communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Must be proficient in the major Microsoft 365 platforms such as Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, Forms, etc.
  • Must be willing to serve alongside the Ingram Honors College student body (both on campus and off campus).
  • Must be comfortable in leading groups of students for service projects/opportunities (both on campus and off campus).
  • Must be comfortable in communicating with internal GCU employees as well as external GCU stakeholders and partners (e.g., nonprofit organizations).
  • Must have an attitude and desire to constantly learn and grow.
  • Must be self-motivated and have willingness to initiate and create ideas even when no checklist is provided.
  • Must be able to work in 4+ hour shifts or have flexibility with hours.
  • Must be able to work year-round through the summer in the state of Arizona.
  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s program or Master’s program.
  • Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in organizing, promoting, and leading service projects during Honors College’s Service in Action Month (typically the full month of October).
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute local service projects/opportunities in partnership with local nonprofit organizations for honors students throughout the entire academic year.
  • Assist in researching nonprofit organizations in the local community to determine the community’s needs.
  • Connect and maintain relationships with established nonprofit partners.
  • Create and manage all RSVP forms and registrations in relation to service projects/opportunities.
  • Track and document participation in all service projects/opportunities as well as invested service hours throughout the year.
  • Address and handle questions from students, staff, faculty, etc., regarding service projects/opportunities.
  • Promote service projects/opportunities to the Ingram Honors College student body whether in written or verbal format (i.e., mass emails, distribution of flyers, class visits/presentations, etc.).
  • Other duties as assigned.
