About The Position

Knox College seeks a technologically savvy, resourceful, and driven individual to join the Student Financial Services team. Members of our team work with prospective and current students and their families, assisting them in applying for financial aid, managing the costs of college, and guiding them toward successful completion of a Knox degree. The Student Financial Services Advisor supports prospective and current students by providing financial aid counseling, assisting with financial aid applications, monitoring student accounts, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations. The role includes evaluating financial aid eligibility, resolving account and application discrepancies, conducting financial aid workshops, collaborating with campus partners to support student enrollment and retention, and delivering exceptional customer service while helping students navigate the financial aspects of their education.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in the use of information technology and the delivery of online services
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and apply federal regulations
  • Commitment to excellent customer service and retention
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work both in a team setting and independently manage multiple tasks and projects
  • Willingness to work additional hours during peak financial aid processing and student billing seasons
  • An appreciation for a residential liberal arts education, respect for individual differences, openness to the values and opinions of others, and flexibility to adapt to constant change
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • Experience in a related field

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual counseling to students and families regarding financial aid options
  • Monitor student account information and conduct any necessary outreach to resolve outstanding information or balances
  • Assist students in completing financial aid applications and related documentation
  • Evaluate and process financial aid applications to determine eligibility for aid
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations
  • Develop and conduct financial aid workshops and presentations for students and parents
  • Collaborate with other campus departments related to student enrollment, billing, retention, etc.
  • Monitor and manage student financial aid packages to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Provide general guidance on budgeting and financial management to help students make informed financial decisions
  • Respond to inquiries from students, parents, and staff regarding financial aid policies and procedures
  • Assist in the development and implementation of financial aid policies and procedures
  • Identify and resolve any discrepancies in student financial aid applications or awards
  • Other duties as assigned
