About The Position

For our project focused on negotiation training and process support to resistance and liberation movements (RLMs) in transition within the Negotiation and Mediation Support Department, we are looking for a Project Manager. This is a part-time position (12-14 hours per week) starting on September 1st, 2026, with a duration of 1 year, potentially extendable. The role is based in Berlin, Germany, and/or remote, within the Conflict Transformation Research department. As a working student, you will be part of the conflict transformation research team and work closely with researchers. Your tasks will involve supporting a sub-project conducted by the Berghof Foundation as part of the research consortium ‘MOTRA. Monitoring and Transfer Platform Radicalisation’. MOTRA aims to systematically monitor radicalisation trends in Germany and enhance knowledge transfer.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a Master's degree program in a social science subject.
  • Solid knowledge in the fields of ‘radicalisation’ and ‘extremism’.
  • Familiarity with methods of qualitative data collection and analysis.
  • Initial experience in conducting and analysing interviews and/or focus groups.
  • Experience working with the MAXQDA analysis software (or comparable tools).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with online questionnaires is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and conducting qualitative expert surveys (interviews and questionnaire surveys) among actors from science, security authorities and prevention practice.
  • Analysing the collected data using qualitative research methods.
  • Documentation of project results and their dissemination within the consortium, at national and international conferences and in practice.
  • Coordination of research activities with the consortium, professional exchange and data integration.
  • Donor reporting.
