About The Position

The ASU Foundation's Global Advancement team is hiring a student worker to support a team of regional development officers spanning Hawaii, the West Coast, Midwest, Texas, the East Coast, the UK and Europe, and Asia. This role provides hands-on exposure to fundraising operations, donor relations, and advancement communications at a leading national research university. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn how a major philanthropic organization operates.

Requirements

  • Excellent customer relations skills, communication, and follow-through.
  • Learning mindset with a willingness and desire to spend time researching various topics.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver presentations on various research topics/skills to the team.
  • Interest and experience in event planning and making agendas.
  • Ability to coordinate across key stakeholders’ schedules and multitask across multiple projects.
  • Computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team.
  • Ability to take initiative and set priorities while being flexible.
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing assigned duties.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and responsibility regarding information related to Foundation and University business and confidential prospect information.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Salesforce and Asana is a plus.
  • A current undergraduate or graduate student at Arizona State University.
  • Willing to sign and abide by a confidentiality agreement.
  • Ability to commit to working at least two consecutive semesters.
  • Graphic design skills as this position will support in producing presentations, reports, and other high-level graphic materials to help prospective donors learn more about ASU.
  • An ability to understand dynamic, interrelated concepts and ASU connections to news, events, and organizations.
  • An interest in philanthropy and fundraising, particularly in the corporate sector.
  • Organizational skills, ability to keep team files and digital workspaces organized.

Responsibilities

  • Support the maintenance of donor, alumni and other prospect records in Salesforce, including logging activity and tracking proposals
  • Pull contact information and compile donor lists to support outreach across multiple regions
  • Conduct on-demand research on donors, prospects, and corporations to support regional team members when deeper research resources are not available
  • Monitor news, press releases, and current events across domestic and international markets to surface relevant information for the team
  • Support the team in the creation of reports and presentations
  • Provide copy editing and design support for proposals and other donor-facing materials
  • Support the drafting of outreach materials including invitations, follow-up emails, and other copy
  • Support event planning and coordination across time zones, including logistics, scheduling, and preparation of materials
  • Contribute to special team projects throughout the year
