About The Position

This is a part-time student position at Texas Performing Arts, open to both work-study and non-work-study students. It offers real-world experience in a non-profit arts presenter, with opportunities for advancement, wage increases, growth in responsibilities, and professional development. Texas Performing Arts (TPA) at the University of Texas at Austin is a major performing arts center hosting Broadway shows, international seasons of dance, theater, and music, and the Texas Welcomes series. TPA is also deeply involved in education, serving thousands of K-12 and university students. The Heller Awards for Young Artists (HAYA) is a key initiative celebrating high school musical theatre and expanding arts education access. The HAYA Student Assistant will provide administrative support to this program.

Requirements

  • Availability to work scheduled shifts during normal business hours (M-F; 9-5).
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends, as assigned.
  • Ability to protect student data and maintain confidentiality around student information and internal processes.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to evolving processes and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and detail-oriented.
  • Responsible, dependable, and punctual behaviors.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Education and Engagement Manager in the administration of the Heller Awards for Young Artists.
  • Provide support for the Heller Awards program management system (e.g., monitoring help desk referrals and bug reports, assisting with calendar and communications updates, etc.).
  • Assist with special Heller Awards events - season kick-off, professional development and workshops, judges retreat, etc.
  • Assist with routine data collection, entry, and file maintenance in shared drives.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of annual program timelines, checklists, procedures, and post-season tasks.
  • Represent Texas Performing Arts with a pleasant and professional demeanor through all interactions.
  • Arrive on time for work and maintain a reliable attendance record.
  • Dress appropriately for work in a casual, yet professional environment.
