About The Position

The Office of Career Services Student Assistant provides administrative, customer service, and event support to help students and alumni with career exploration, resume and interview preparation, internship and employment opportunities, and career readiness programming. This position helps the student employee strengthen transferable workplace skills, build professionalism and leadership experience, and support the Career Services Center’s mission of preparing students for successful career outcomes after graduation.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate professionally with students, alumni, employers, faculty, staff, and visitors in person, by phone, and through email to answer questions, take accurate messages, and provide assistance.
  • Use Handshake to help schedule appointments, manage student requests, approve job postings from verified employers, and support office communications.
  • Provide organized and accurate administrative support, including filing, organizing materials, maintaining office spaces, entering data, and supporting daily operations.
  • Assist with survey administration, outreach, and accurate data collection for the First Destination Survey during the fall and spring semesters.
  • Work with the Career Services team to support campus recruiting and employer events by setting up welcome and registration tables, greeting guests, managing sign-ins, and assisting with event logistics.
  • Represent the Office of Career Services professionally at Orientation programs, Welcome Stations, tabling events, and employer-facing initiatives.
  • Support the team in preparing and carrying out large-scale Career Services events, including Career Fairs, employer programs, and related activities.
  • Provide limited front-line Housing support as needed by monitoring the Housing phone and email, answering basic questions, and referring other concerns to Housing staff. Complete other assigned duties while protecting confidential information and following university policies.
