About The Position

The Marketing and Social Media Student Assistant works as a member of the Career Services team, serves in the front office, and supports the coordination of marketing strategies and Career Services social media. This position helps promote Career Services programs, events, resources, job and internship opportunities, and student success initiatives through digital marketing, social media engagement, content creation, and campus outreach. The position also provides customer service and event support while helping to increase student awareness of and use of Career Services resources.

  • Must be a student eligible for Work-Study or Non-Work-Study funding.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, edit, and publish clear and engaging content for Career Services social media platforms, including photos, graphics, videos, event promotions, career advice, student success stories, and job and internship opportunities.
  • Help coordinate, carry out, and maintain social media and marketing strategies that promote Career Services programs, events, resources, Handshake, and career development initiatives.
  • Use Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Procreate, Studio, and other approved technologies to design marketing materials.
  • Provide professional customer service at the front desk by answering phones and emails, welcoming visitors, and assisting students, employers, and guests.
  • Work with the Career Services team to support Career Fairs, On-Campus Recruiting, workshops, presentations, Etiquette Dinner, RAMMY Awards, and other special programs.
  • Review social media performance, engagement data, and campaign effectiveness and use that information to recommend improvements to marketing strategies.
  • Attend staff meetings, one-on-one supervisor meetings, and professional development opportunities and assist with office operations and special projects.
  • Provide limited front-line Housing support as needed by monitoring the Housing phone and email, answering basic questions, and referring other concerns to Housing staff. Complete other assigned duties while protecting confidential information and following university policies.
