About The Position

This role provides student employment opportunities at the VNSC, aiming to foster a balance between academic integrity, professional growth, and personal development. Student employees will learn skills such as professionalism, leadership, inclusiveness, and collaboration. Office Assistants will be responsible for general office tasks including greeting visitors, answering phones, making copies, managing sign-in sheets, and other assigned duties. The student employee will be required to work some evenings and weekends to assist with events.

  • Familiarity with SS&E department and campus resources
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills
  • Detail oriented and be able to work through problems by using all available resources
  • Must be Work-Study Eligible

Responsibilities

  • Staff front desks within the department
  • Provide office support including, but not limited to answering phones, greeting walk-ins, responding to emails, and scheduling appointments with professional staff
  • Awareness of campus offices/programs and resources such as SS&E centers & offices, Advising, Student Support Services, Registrar’s Office, Financial Aid, Career Services, Distance Learning, and other campus individuals and groups to assist students and make referrals as needed
  • Ensure the VNSC is clean according to set standards, clean areas occupied by other students right upon their departure, and furniture is in its proper location each shift.
  • Create Marketing for and promote upcoming events and programs to campus and the community
  • Update information in the VNSC and offices display boards
  • Maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with faculty, staff, and students
  • Maintain accurate records on VNSC programs and activities
  • Aid students in using all resources offered through the VNSC, SS&E, and the entire campus.
  • Meet regularly with supervisor(s) to discuss projects and duties
  • Assist with achieving the mission of the VNSC and SS&E
  • Will be required to work some evenings and weekends for events
  • Perform other duties as assigned
