About The Position

Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) employs student-focused professionals with equity-mindsets. Established in 1963, ASI is a non-profit corporation guided by a student board and managed by full-time professional staff. ASI is considered a part of the Cal Poly Pomona Division of Student Affairs with a dashed reporting line to Administrative Affairs. ASI serves the entire campus population, including over 27,000 students, by providing opportunities for student engagement, student employment, and a multitude of programs and services such as recreation and wellness, student union and activities, student government, and childcare. ASI operational support areas include human resources, financial services, information technology, facilities management, and marketing. ASI is engaged in the work of being a learning organization. Currently, the guiding ideas of the organization are “under construction” as the team re-imagines its vision, mission, and core values. Requirements

  • Must be available to attend mandatory department wide and position specific staff trainings
  • Event planning experience: on-campus event planning preferred
  • General knowledge of campus policies
  • Ability to react and lead calmly and effectively in emergency situations
  • Demonstrated ability to lead staff
  • Supervision Experience, preferred
  • Strong conflict resolution skills
  • Effective handling of multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to operate an office workstation, utilizing word processing, spreadsheet and other software
  • Ability to maintain professional work conduct
  • Reliable, able to work with minimal supervision, and have ability to make independent decisions and recommendations
  • Ability to adhere to work rules, follow directions, use time effectively and work productively without close supervision
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours
  • Ability to motivate and work successfully with students
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student population and campus community
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to satisfactorily complete a background check (including a criminal records check)

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the collection of and analysis of semester and annual reports containing assessment data
  • Assist in preparing and monitoring the Bronco Events and Activities Team annual budgets
  • Meet with student staff to obtain progress updates on staff programs and hold team accountable for deadlines
  • Assist with meetings, training, and semesterly retreat presentations
  • Review and approve marketing on a regular basis
  • Assist student staff with the planning and implementation of programs and events
  • Communicate with various vendors and performers to process contracts, payments, and logistics
  • Attend all required departmental and organizational team meetings, retreats, and trainings
  • Maintain positive and professional working relationships with external agencies and within the organization and campus community
  • Responsible for supervision of the Student Activities Assistant student staff, programs, operations, and services
  • Assist in hiring, scheduling, training, and evaluating student staff
  • Assist with ordering, purchasing, and maintaining adequate quantities of all goods and supplies needed for a successful operation
  • Accountable for adherence to approved budget
  • Assist in developing and monitoring assessment for programs and events
  • Assist with updating policies and procedures as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
