About The Position

Spalding University’s Office of Student Affairs seeks a student-centered, creative, and inclusive professional to serve as the Student Activities & Engagement Coordinator. This role is essential to fostering a vibrant campus environment rooted in belonging, connection, and student success. The Coordinator leads the design, implementation, and assessment of co-curricular programs, student activities, and leadership development initiatives that engage a diverse student population, including traditional, adult, graduate, and online learners. Working closely with student leaders and campus partners, this position cultivates meaningful opportunities for involvement, leadership growth, and community building. Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Coordinator plays a central role in strengthening student connection to Spalding University by creating inclusive experiences that promote engagement, retention, and holistic development.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or related field preferred
  • Experience in student activities, campus programming, leadership development, or related areas

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and assess a robust calendar of inclusive educational, social, and community-building programs
  • Plan and execute signature campus events such as Welcome Week, Student Involvement Fair, leadership workshops, and campus-wide activities
  • Create intentional opportunities that foster student belonging, connection, and engagement
  • Maintain a visible and active presence at campus events to build relationships and support student participation
  • Coordinate weekly campus communications highlighting student activities and engagement opportunities
  • Support marketing and promotion of events through social media, digital communications, and campus partnerships
  • Advise and support student organizations, including Campus Activities Board (CAB) and Student Government Association (SGA)
  • Develop and facilitate leadership training, workshops, and ongoing development opportunities
  • Empower students to initiate and lead programs that enhance campus life
  • Attending student organization meetings regularly to provide guidance and support
  • Foster a culture of student voice, ownership, and shared responsibility for campus engagement
  • Develop strategies and programs that strengthen student belonging and connection to the institution
  • Support First-Year Experience and transition programming
  • Collaborate with campus partners to design retention-focused initiatives
  • Motivate and encourage student participation across diverse student populations
  • Ensure programming reflects inclusive practices and addresses the needs of all students
  • Partner with Residence Life to support residential engagement and community development
  • Assist with Resident Assistant (RA) training related to programming and engagement
  • Support major residential events such as move-in and community-building initiatives
  • Assist with budgeting, purchasing, and tracking expenses for student activities and programs
  • Coordinate logistics for events, including space reservations, vendor communication, and resource management
  • Maintain accurate records of programs, participation, and assessment outcomes
  • Supervise student workers or graduate assistants supporting campus programming
  • Partner with campus offices such as Admissions, Counseling Services, Dining, IT, and Facilities to support student-centered initiatives
  • Contribute to campus committees, student satisfaction efforts, and institutional events
  • Support recruitment and visit events by showcasing student engagement opportunities
  • Promote a campus culture grounded in equity, compassion, and community
