About The Position

The Student Activities Coordinator develops, coordinates, and implements student programming for WNMU main campus, with a focus on commuter and online students. This role also coordinates cultural programs for multicultural education, manages the Student Life social media platforms, and creates promotional materials for various channels. The coordinator ensures campus events are offered virtually, promotes student engagement and success, and assists with major departmental events like Welcome Week and Homecoming. Additionally, the position is responsible for First 40 programming to aid student retention, handles preliminary contract negotiations, produces financial and activity reports, and maintains equipment inventory. Collaboration with campus and community organizations, administrative support for New Student Orientation, and participation in professional development are also key aspects of this role. The coordinator must model professional standards and ethics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience in student programming and event coordination.
  • Proficiency in social media management (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok).
  • Experience creating promotional materials (flyers).
  • Ability to conduct preliminary contract and fee negotiations.
  • Skills in producing financial and activity reports.
  • Experience with equipment inventory management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with campus and community organizations.
  • Understanding of student retention strategies.
  • Commitment to professional development and modeling professional standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, coordinates, and implements student programming for WNMU main campus, including programming for commuter and online students.
  • Coordinates cultural programs to provide multicultural education to students.
  • Works with the Director of Student Life & Success and Assistant Vice President of Student Life to develop the WNMU Student Life webpage.
  • Manages all facets of the Student Life social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok).
  • Creates flyers for Student Life for Instagram, ROKU, and Campus Groups.
  • Ensures campus events are offered virtually.
  • Promotes student engagement, social awareness, responsibility, and academic success through student programming.
  • Assists the department in implementing Welcome Week, Homecoming, and Great Race.
  • Responsible for continued First 40 programming to assist in student retention.
  • Consults and conducts preliminary contract and fee negotiations with artists, managers, and/or agents for programming.
  • Produces financial and activity reports for programming.
  • Maintains equipment inventory, conducts security checks of equipment, schedule of usage, and makes or recommends purchases for programming.
  • Works with campus and community organizations to create collaborative programming.
  • Assists the Assistant Vice President of Student Life with the coordination and implementation of New Student Orientation events in the Fall.
  • Provides a broad range of administrative functions.
  • Participates in the process of ongoing personal and professional development.
  • Maintains comprehensive communication among all contacts (internal and external).
  • Models professional standards and ethics in accordance with WNMU philosophy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
