About The Position

This role involves overseeing the Campus Activities Board (CAB) and coordinating all planning and programming aspects of this organization, as well as managing venue scheduling for Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs) on campus. The position requires advising the CAB, monitoring member academic status, managing budgets and contracts, providing leadership and training to officers, and assisting with student development initiatives and campus events. The coordinator will also work with the Director of Student Development on various aspects of student affairs, including RSO management, competency mapping, and event supervision. Professional development, including attending training and presenting at conferences, is also a key component of this role.

  • Bachelor’s degree required in student personnel or related field.
  • Must possess strong organization skills.
  • Must possess programming experience.
  • Must possess advising experience.
  • Must demonstrate team building skills.
  • Must demonstrate communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years’ experience preferred working in higher education, student affairs, student lead organizations, and/or other job related experience.
  • Budget experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Advise Campus Activities Board (CAB) organization.
  • Monitor academic status of all CAB members each semester.
  • Maintain attendance records for meetings, events, etc.
  • Manage CAB budget, contracts, evaluations, purchases, scholarships, and payments.
  • Provide approval for bids and contracts from the Student Development Director.
  • Provide leadership, training, and guidance for CAB officers and all activities.
  • Review CAB constitution and by-laws yearly, making suggestions for updates.
  • Work with the Student Development Director to handle disciplinary actions with CAB officers and members.
  • Assist with managing the Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs).
  • Work closely with OMC with the creation of social media and email content for CAB activities.
  • Implement student learning outcomes and surveys for CAB activities and programs.
  • Assist with both student development campus events during and after normal work hours.
  • Manage classroom, outdoor venues, and student center rooms for student bookings.
  • Assist Director of Student Development with vectors (Chickering seven vectors) and competency mapping.
  • Assist with the supervision of the student section at athletic events.
  • Assist the Director of Student Development with the implementation and supervision of Suitable (Wingspan).
  • Maintain accurate records for annual Student Affairs report.
  • Pursue professional development opportunities relevant to job responsibilities.
  • Stay up-to-date on current trends and best practices within student development in higher education.
  • Present at one professional conference each year.
  • Participate in university-wide events such as Browse on the Bayou, PREP/POP, Convocation, Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs Initiatives, etc.
  • Provide representation in various university committees and university-wide events.
  • Attend/complete yearly/quarterly training for safety, ethics, Title IX, and other mandatory trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned by President, Provost/VPAA, or Student Development Director.
