About The Position

Nucor Building Systems Texas is hiring a Structural Fitter in Terrell, Texas. The role involves assembling structural components accurately, interpreting shop drawings, supporting quality and housekeeping, and safely operating fabrication equipment. The fitter must obtain and maintain a GMAW 2G welding certification and properly perform and pass required nondestructive testing (NDT) welds and inspections. Safety policies, procedures, practices, and housekeeping standards must be upheld at all times. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

Requirements

Experience reading drawings and prints.
Proficiency with a tape measure and micrometer.
GMAW 2G weld certification.
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
Legally authorized to work in the United States; the employer will not sponsor a visa now or in the future.
Ability to demonstrate commitment to workplace safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards.

Nice To Haves

Crane and forklift certifications.
Prior welding or fitting experience.
Experience reading blueprints.
Basic understanding of metal building system fabrication.

Responsibilities

Read and interpret shop drawings.
Maintain housekeeping and help control scrap.
Obtain and maintain the GMAW 2G welding certification.
Ensure structural components are assembled correctly.
Safely operate an arc gouger, grinder, magnetic drill, and flip-rite cranes.
Communicate up and down the line to ensure quality and completeness.
Be flexible to work any schedule needed.
Properly perform and pass NDT welds and inspections as required.
Initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
