About The Position

SBM is seeking a Structural/Building Design Technologist Co-op for an 8-month term (may consider a 4-month term) starting September 2026 in our London office. This role involves assisting the structural engineering and building design departments with the design and drafting for residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. The co-op student will work with the structural engineers and building design team to produce designs and drawings for permit and construction. The candidate will be expected to work both independently and within a project group to facilitate design requirements and reach project completion. Special project tasks to promote efficiencies of current design procedures will be encouraged, and there will be opportunities for occasional site visits.

Requirements

Enrolled in an Architectural Technology Diploma program
Eligible for a 4 or 8-month co-op registered through a post-secondary school (8 month preferred)
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook
Proficient with AutoCAD and Revit
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Effective team member
Commitment to ongoing professional and personal growth; willingness to learn
Adaptable and flexible to changing priorities
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization
Ability to work both independently with little supervision and in a team environment
Knowledge of construction materials and practices

Nice To Haves

Experience in design and drafting considered an asset
Twinmotion experience also considered an asset

Responsibilities

Become familiar with design guidelines, standards, and regulations associated with building design and structural engineering.
Accept technical guidance from designers, technologists, and senior staff.
Work within the project team environment from preliminary stages of the design through to completion.
Coordinate building design & structural aspects of projects with other discipline designs and drawings.
Complete drawings and documents in conformance with building code and office standards.
Other tasks as assigned by Structural/ Building Design Lead or Division Manager.
Occasional site visits as required.
Comply with all company standards, policies and procedures.
