Stress Engineer

SOGECLAIRβ€’Wichita, KS

About The Position

The Stress Engineer performs structural analysis on metallic and non-metallic aircraft structures using classical hand analysis methods and finite element analysis. The role supports design from preliminary and conceptual phases through critical and detailed design, assesses structures and flight-test installations for static strength, and conducts fatigue and damage-tolerance assessments based on customer mission-profile requirements. The engineer prepares controlled engineering documentation and substantiation reports that meet program and certification-authority requirements, and supports design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and operations through Material Review Board duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of relevant stress engineering experience.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder) to meet stated U.S. ITAR requirements.
  • Proficiency in finite element method tools, such as Patran, Nastran, Nasgro, or Altair.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficiency with CATIA V5.
  • Understanding of civil aircraft certification rules and experience with certification procedures.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills, with the ability to work constructively and effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Ability to work independently and multitask efficiently.
  • Good understanding of aircraft structural load paths and experience with analysis methodologies for primary and secondary structural components, including static, fatigue, and damage-tolerance analysis.
