About The Position

S.W.I.M.S. (Storm Water Inspection & Maintenance Services, Inc.), part of Apex Companies, is seeking a dependable Street Sweeper Operator to clean storm drain devices and streets at various locations throughout Southern California. The work helps ensure storm water returning to the ocean is clean. No prior experience is necessary; training is provided. The role is based in Livermore, California, pays $23.00–$25.00 per hour depending on experience, and follows a Monday–Friday schedule with an early start and mandatory weekend work as needed.

Requirements

Valid driver license, reliable transportation, a cell phone, and a clean driving record.
Ability to operate a street sweeper, backpack blower, pressure washer, generator, and related equipment, or willingness and ability to learn.
Ability to communicate in English, including reading and writing.
Ability to perform medium work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and up to 30 pounds frequently and constantly to move objects.
Ability to kneel, bend, and squat throughout the day.
No experience is necessary; training is provided.

Responsibilities

Operate equipment needed for assigned tasks, including a street sweeper, backpack blower, pressure washer, generator, and hand tools; learn to use additional equipment as needed.
Clean and maintain street sweeper vehicles and equipment, including daily cleaning and standard checks.
Fill the street sweeper’s water tanks and operate rotary brushes and water spray controls.
Clear trash, debris, snow, and contaminants from streets and curbs.
Report incidents and mechanical failures to management.
Maintain accurate driver logs and three-part forms.
Follow traffic safety regulations, including appropriate signaling and signage.
Exercise caution when operating in confined spaces, congested streets, and construction sites.
