About The Position

The Street Bar Service Assistant supports bar operations by maintaining cleanliness and appropriate stock behind the bar and helping provide a best-in-class guest experience. The role assists bar staff with keeping the bar organized to support an efficient flow of service throughout the shift. The position is at The Newbury Boston, a 286-room luxury hotel in Boston’s Back Bay operated by Highgate Hotels.

Requirements

One year of previous experience in a similar role.
Adequate communication skills to effectively communicate with customers and coworkers.
Patience in dealing with guests.
Availability for the evening shift.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

Request, pick, verify, and put away requisitions for liquor, wine, beer, juices, soft drinks, and food items used in bar areas.
Stock bar areas with liquor, wine, beer, juices, soft drinks, glassware, and condiments.
Develop a complete working knowledge of all products served by the bar.
Complete all side opening and closing duties.
Respond positively to guest problems and issues to ensure guest satisfaction.
Follow sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies to comply with regulations.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area.
Attend to customer needs with a friendly and professional attitude.
Operate and maintain bar equipment and tools.
Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
