About The Position

This posting is for a 4-month Student Fall 2026 placement with RBC Commercial Banking, running from September 8, 2026, to December 18, 2026. To be eligible, candidates must either be returning to school after the work term or require the work term as a mandatory component for graduation. The role offers an opportunity to join RBC Commercial Banking, a key partner to Canada’s leading businesses, and contribute to shaping the country's future by driving economic impact. The Strategy Analyst will play a key role in developing business strategies, researching market opportunities, and shaping the competitive roadmap. This position involves collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, leveraging digital platforms, and building innovative solutions to transform client experiences. It provides opportunities to learn, develop skills, and gain hands-on experience in enterprise strategy and banking, influencing strategic decisions and working cross-functionally with senior leaders. Potential placements include RBCx, Associate Product Manager Intern, Business Enablement, Commercial Transformation Business Product Analyst, and Transaction Banking.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Business, Commerce, Economics, Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in Excel (i.e. macros/pivot tables/etc.) and Data visualization
  • Proficiency using Tableau, Confluence, Jira and/or SharePoint
  • Understanding of business fundamentals, financial analysis, financial modelling, data management, accounting principles and strategic business rationales
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments and adjust to new challenges
  • Collaboration & Communication skills; cross-functional teamwork and stakeholder engagement across all roles
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of commercial banking, financial services and business fundamentals
  • Previous internship or project / program management experience in strategy, consulting or business development
  • Familiarity with banking, financial services, or commercial lending
  • Knowledge of RBC's business lines and/or competitive landscape
  • Experience leveraging AI tools for market research, data analysis and/or strategic insights

Responsibilities

  • Conduct external market research and competitive analysis to inform strategic initiatives
  • Support the development and refinement of business strategies and go-to-market plans
  • Analyze financial data and KPIs to identify growth opportunities and operational improvements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate strategic options and build business cases
  • Prepare executive presentations and strategic recommendations for senior leadership
  • Understand complex problems, identify market opportunities, and translate data into actionable recommendations for senior decision-makers
