About The Position

This posting is for a 4-month Student Fall 2026 placement with a start date of September 8, 2026 and end-date of December 18, 2026. To be eligible, candidates must be returning to school after the work term or require the work term as a mandatory component for graduation. The role is within RBC Commercial Banking, partnering with Canada’s leading businesses to drive economic impact. It involves collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, leveraging digital platforms, and building innovative solutions to transform client experiences. The position offers opportunities for learning and skill development. RBC is seeking a Financial Analyst with ambition, tenacity, and a curious, agile mindset to support credit analysis, financial modeling, and client portfolio management. This provides hands-on experience in a dynamic banking environment and contributes to business decisions. Potential placements include Finance Analyst, Credit Management Analyst, and Commercial Credit Business Analyst.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Commerce, Finance, Business Administration or Economics (or a related field)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, Data Visualization such as Tableau)
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Understanding of business fundamentals, financial analysis, financial modelling, data management, accounting principles and strategic business rationales
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments and adjust to new challenges
  • Collaboration & Communication skills; cross-functional teamwork and stakeholder engagement across all roles
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of commercial banking, financial services and business fundamentals
  • Familiarity with banking systems or credit analysis tools
  • Knowledge of commercial lending products and practices
  • Previous internship or co-op experience in finance
  • Ability to transform raw data into compelling and actionable narratives to help drive business decisions

Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial analysis (i.e. ROI, variance, margin) and credit assessments for commercial loan applications
  • Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate borrower credit worthiness and loan structures
  • Support senior analysts in monitoring existing client portfolios and identifying risks or opportunities
  • Assist in preparing presentations and reports for internal stakeholder meetings and client discussions
