About The Position

The Strategic Training Program Manager leads the strategy, design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Financial Administration Department's (FAD) learning and training programs. Serving as FAD's lead for learning strategy, organizational readiness, and user adoption, this role partners with business owners, policy experts, and stakeholders across the University to develop learning solutions that support the successful implementation of new business processes and organizational change initiatives. This position is responsible for the end-to-end management of the learning lifecycle, including needs assessment, instructional design, curriculum development, delivery, evaluation, and continuous improvement for both instructor-led and digital learning experiences. The Strategic Training Program Manager collaborates with Schools, administrative units, and subject matter experts to develop scalable, accessible learning resources that meet the evolving needs of Harvard's diverse financial community. As a key contributor to University-wide financial transformation initiatives, this role provides strategic project and change management support to promote organizational readiness, accelerate user adoption, and ensure the successful implementation of new technologies and business processes. By working collaboratively across functional areas, the Strategic Training Program Manager helps strengthen organizational capabilities and drive operational excellence throughout the University.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum of 7 years’ relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise learning or organizational change initiatives.
  • Demonstrated work experience as a trainer, training facilitator or coordinating multiple training events in a complex and decentralized setting, preferably higher education.
  • Strong project management and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority across a complex, decentralized organization.
  • Knowledge of instructional design theory and implementation.
  • Knowledge of learning management systems and web delivery tools.
  • Proven ability to complete full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate)
  • Experience supporting system implementations or other large-scale technology deployments.
  • Experience developing online learning content using modern instructional design methodologies.
  • Experience using learning analytics to evaluate program effectiveness.
  • MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Develop enterprise learning strategies for large-scale business transformation initiatives.
  • Lead training workstreams for complex cross-functional projects.
  • Partner with project leadership to develop organizational readiness, communication, and user adoption plans.
  • Design, create, schedule and deliver training, both in-person and online.
  • Choose appropriate training methods per case (simulations, mentoring, on the job training, professional development classes).
  • Partner with internal FAD stakeholders and liaise with subject matter experts regarding instructional design.
  • Assess learning effectiveness, summarize evaluation reports, and recommend continuous improvement.
  • Leverage emerging learning technologies, including digital learning platforms and AI-enabled tools, to improve the learner experience.
  • Training project management which includes working collaboratively with colleagues to leverage resources for successful project completion.
  • Manage outreach and communications with Schools, end-user community, and training community throughout the University; serve as primary contact with user groups and stakeholders.
  • Partner with Policy subject matters experts and FAD communications staff.
