About The Position

Inside the Role Procurement is one of the most international departments at Detroit Diesel Corporation (DDC). As a member of the department of Daimler Truck global purchasing team you will gain valuable experience and knowledge cross-functionally. There are multiple advancement and travel opportunities within the department. Our employees receive annual training in professional negotiation tactics, as well as training courses on internal DDC functions. A position in procurement provides visibility to senior executive management within DDC and other companies. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (completed or expected within the next 6 months) from an accredited university/college
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to proactively take charge and lead tasks to completion
  • Ability to evaluate and select suppliers using analytical tools

Nice To Haves

  • 0-2 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Knowledge of procurement processes and tools OR knowledge of supplier landscape (regional and global), materials, and manufacturing technologies
  • Ability to communicate complex issues across groups and levels is preferred, including working within international teams
  • Experience with contracts, cost structures as well as business and economic issues
  • Supplier negotiation experience

Responsibilities

  • Establishes supplier relationship management processes and continuous improvement goals/programs
  • Negotiates contracts and coordinating supplier integration plans with internal clients
  • Monitors market dynamics that impact materials/services availability and/or pricing
  • Partners with internal clients to identify sourcing needs, develop buyer/market profiles, identify marketplace trends, and define acceptable service levels
