About The Position

The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia is seeking a Strategic Messaging Specialist. This role is a senior communications specialist responsible for leading the development and implementation of strategic communications programs to elevate the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia’s reputation and visibility among target audiences. The Specialist will report to the Senior Manager, Messaging. The salary grade for this position is 15. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant's background, experience and skills, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, education, or related discipline.
  • A minimum of seven years of relevant writing and editing experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in communications planning and developing key messaging.
  • Strong writing skills for both print and digital channels.
  • Demonstrated skills in writing for both print and digital channels.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with limited supervision and adhere to specified deadlines.
  • Advanced technical proficiency in editing/word processing, spreadsheets.
  • Exemplary interpersonal and collaboration skills, oral and written communications, and an ability to translate research into language that the intelligent layperson can understand.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive materials.
  • Experience and an interest in creative use of Internet-based journalism, social media, and familiarity with publishing software.
  • Proven proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint as well as Internet research skills.
  • Must be available to work on-site in a full-time capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the strategic development and implementation of communications programs that increase awareness of the Bank’s role in the public space and enhance the Bank’s reputation and visibility.
  • Developing strategic messaging plans and key messages in collaboration with the Senior Manager of Strategic Messaging and the Vice President of Strategic Communications.
  • Liaising with groups across the organization to build awareness of institutional communications priorities and strategic goals and ensure consistency of messaging across internal and external platforms.
  • Developing communications plans and project timelines related to Bank research, engagement, and initiatives.
  • Coordinating implementation of plans and execution of deliverables across communications units.
  • Maintaining awareness of Federal Reserve System messaging and communications priorities and seeking to ensure the Bank’s alignment with these and with the overall strategic goals and mission of the Federal Reserve.
  • Participating in development of key topical messaging sets, content calendars, and driving the overall content strategy for the institution.
  • Thinking of ways to maximize strategic use of content across all platforms.
  • Working with key stakeholders across Bank to develop content ideas and coordinate execution and messaging across platforms, both internal and external.
  • Serving as a strategic team member on a range of communications projects and as a writing and communications expert on specific Bank initiatives, with a particular expertise in writing about complex topics in plain and accessible language.
  • Assisting Bank departments and subject matter experts in translating complex research into clear and engaging information campaigns through digital (web, video, social media) and print channels.
  • Participating in expanding the Bank’s social media presence and engagement with digital audiences, in collaboration with the Digital Content team.
  • Writing, editing, and reviewing materials, including Bank publications, website content, email newsletters, and other materials.
  • Assisting with other Bank editorial projects as assigned by the Senior Manager, Strategic Messaging.
  • Fulfilling job duties and responsibilities in conformance with sound safety practices.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
