About The Position

The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia is seeking a Strategic Messaging Specialist. This is a senior communications specialist role responsible for leading the development and implementation of strategic communications programs to enhance the Bank's reputation and visibility among target audiences. The position reports to the Senior Manager, Messaging. The salary grade for this position is 15, with final salary determined by applicant's background, experience, skills, internal equity, and market data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, education, or related discipline.
  • A minimum of seven years of relevant writing and editing experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in communications planning and developing key messaging.
  • Strong writing skills for both print and digital channels.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with limited supervision and adhere to specified deadlines.
  • Advanced technical proficiency in editing/word processing, spreadsheets.
  • Exemplary interpersonal and collaboration skills, oral and written communications.
  • Ability to translate research into language that the intelligent layperson can understand.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive materials.
  • Experience and an interest in creative use of Internet-based journalism, social media.
  • Familiarity with publishing software.
  • Proven proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Internet research skills.
  • Must be available to work on-site in a full-time capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic development and implementation of communications programs to increase awareness of the Bank’s role in the public space and enhance the Bank’s reputation and visibility.
  • Develop strategic messaging plans and key messages in collaboration with the Senior Manager of Strategic Messaging and the Vice President of Strategic Communications.
  • Liaise with groups across the organization to build awareness of institutional communications priorities and strategic goals, ensuring messaging consistency across internal and external platforms.
  • Develop communications plans and project timelines related to Bank research, engagement, and initiatives.
  • Coordinate the implementation of plans and execution of deliverables across communications units.
  • Maintain awareness of Federal Reserve System messaging and communications priorities, ensuring the Bank’s alignment with these and with the overall strategic goals and mission of the Federal Reserve.
  • Participate in the development of key topical messaging sets, content calendars, and driving the overall content strategy for the institution.
  • Identify ways to maximize strategic use of content across all platforms.
  • Work with key stakeholders across the Bank to develop content ideas and coordinate execution and messaging across platforms, both internal and external.
  • Serve as a strategic team member on a range of communications projects and as a writing and communications expert on specific Bank initiatives, with expertise in writing about complex topics in plain and accessible language.
  • Assist Bank departments and subject matter experts in translating complex research into clear and engaging information campaigns through digital (web, video, social media) and print channels.
  • Participate in expanding the Bank’s social media presence and engagement with digital audiences, in collaboration with the Digital Content team.
  • Write, edit, and review materials, including Bank publications, website content, email newsletters, and other materials.
  • Assist with other Bank editorial projects as assigned by the Senior Manager, Strategic Messaging.
  • Fulfill job duties and responsibilities in conformance with sound safety practices.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
