About The Position

The Church Communication Department (CCD) seeks a communication professional to support global messaging, awareness strategy, and implementation for the Church. This person works with senior managers to translate enterprise priorities into clear message architecture, communication briefs, and project plans. The role keeps work organized and moving by tracking scope, timelines, milestones, dependencies, approvals, risks, and outcomes. The candidate can synthesize research, audience insight, and leader direction to define audience needs, message hierarchy, delivery methods, and measurable outcomes. The candidate helps apply and improve tools, processes, frameworks, and guidelines that support organizational alignment. The candidate also supports social media creative and content strategy efforts for the Salt Lake Temple Celebration in 2027. The candidate helps departments and areas deliver on the Church’s core experience so products, events, and communications consistently reflect principles in the Church Communication Guide. They are faithful, positive, culturally competent, accountable, eager to learn, and able to share clear information with leaders and colleagues while centering the work on Jesus Christ.

Requirements

  • At least five years of communication experience, including large-scale projects in communication, branding, or marketing.
  • At least five years of strategic planning experience in or for a complex organization.
  • Experience developing messaging strategy for multi-audience, multi-platform work.
  • At least five years of hands-on project management experience coordinating contributors, timelines, and deliverables; certification or training preferred.
  • Experience working with external agencies or vendors from brief through delivery.
  • Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, business, branding, advertising, marketing, project management, or a related field—or equivalent experience.
  • Strong project management skills: planning, sequencing, tracking, and driving work to completion.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Highly organized and dependable, with the ability to keep complex work visible and on schedule.
  • Able to anticipate dependencies and risks and raise them early with clear options.
  • Strategic thinker who can connect big-picture priorities with executional detail.
  • Able to build message architecture and maintain consistency across audiences, cultures, and platforms.
  • Strong collaborator with departments, areas, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Analytical, solution-oriented, resilient, adaptable, and comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Detail-oriented team player who works well with and through others.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain enterprise messaging frameworks and message hierarchies.
  • Draft communication briefs that provide departments, areas, and vendors with clear strategic direction.
  • Support integrated messaging strategy and alignment across the organization.
  • Manage enterprise communication plans, including scope, timelines, milestones, dependencies, approvals, and delivery.
  • Maintain project plans, schedules, and trackers; monitor progress and flag risks, delays, and resource needs early.
  • Coordinate contributors across departments, areas, and vendors, including meetings, decisions, action items, and follow-through.
  • Support vendor and agency work, including briefing, feedback, timeline and budget tracking, and quality review.
  • Help define success measures, assess outcomes, and turn findings into recommendations that strengthen future messaging.
  • Other duties as assigned.
