About The Position

Utility Profit is hiring a Strategic Account Manager to own its largest single-family rental (SFR) accounts. This commercial account management role focuses on retaining and growing a portfolio of top strategic accounts. The manager owns an expansion target and is responsible for identifying, developing, pitching, and closing growth opportunities within existing accounts. The role requires SFR industry experience and an understanding of how these businesses operate, including scattered-site operations, resident move-in, and corporate and regional decision-making. The Strategic Account Manager builds trusted relationships across partner organizations and works with Sales, Product, Customer Success, and Marketing to support account outcomes and bring partner needs and market feedback into Utility Profit’s operations and product roadmap. The position reports directly to the COO and is based in Austin, Texas, with a hybrid arrangement requiring three days per week in the office. Utility Profit’s platform helps property management companies simplify utility onboarding, integrates with property management systems, and enables residents to set up essential utilities during move-in. More than 1,000 property management companies use the platform.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of experience in strategic account management or a similar revenue-owning relationship role.
  • Experience in the single-family rental ecosystem and specific knowledge of how SFR businesses operate.
  • A track record of personally identifying expansion opportunities and driving incremental revenue within existing strategic accounts.
  • Experience carrying an expansion, revenue, or net revenue retention target.
  • Executive-level communication skills and the ability to build credibility and multi-thread relationships across an organization.
  • A practical, data-driven, and self-directed approach, including the ability to set practices for an account portfolio and determine how to achieve its goals.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with property management platforms such as AppFolio, Buildium, RentVine, RentManager, or Entrata.

Responsibilities

  • Map partner organizations and develop relationships with executive, operations, regional, and business stakeholders.
  • Understand partner use of Utility Profit, including resident move-in, utility setup, and day-to-day property operations, and identify areas of low adoption.
  • Monitor account health, usage, and revenue performance, and distinguish organic growth from accounts needing attention.

  • Keep partners informed and follow cross-functional account issues through to resolution.
  • Identify, develop, pitch, and close expansion opportunities within existing strategic SFR accounts.
  • Find opportunities in additional portfolios or markets, deeper workflow adoption, and new use cases.
  • Determine account by account where additional revenue can come from and focus on opportunities that require a commercial conversation.
  • Work with Sales, Product, Customer Success, and Marketing to support strategic accounts and share account learnings.
  • Advocate for strategic SFR accounts and bring partner needs and market feedback into the product roadmap.
  • Partner with Customer Success and Product to address adoption, workflow, or integration issues that hinder retention or expansion.
  • Prepare internal teams for changes that affect strategic partners.
  • Represent Utility Profit with strategic SFR partners and at relevant SFR and PropTech events when appropriate.
  • Develop fluency in Utility Profit’s platform, partner workflows, and the SFR operating model.
