About The Position

Utility Profit is hiring a Strategic Account Manager to own its largest Enterprise accounts. This commercial account management role focuses on the company’s existing Enterprise clients, with responsibility for building relationships across each organization to support retention and growth. The position carries an expansion target, and the account manager is responsible for identifying and closing expansion opportunities. The role requires Enterprise industry experience and fluency in how rental businesses operate, including scattered-site operations, resident move-in, and decision-making by corporate and regional teams. The account manager will report directly to the COO and collaborate with Sales, Product, Customer Success, and Marketing. The position is based in Austin, Texas, with a hybrid arrangement requiring three days in the office per week. Utility Profit helps property management companies simplify utility onboarding and offers partners a no-cost revenue stream. Its platform integrates with property management systems so residents can set up essential utilities as part of move-in. More than 1,000 property management companies use Utility Profit. The Strategic Account Manager will own key core single-family relationships and help shape the company’s approach to managing those accounts as it grows.

Requirements

  • Enterprise rental experience and specific knowledge of how Enterprise rental businesses operate.
  • A track record of personally identifying expansion opportunities and driving incremental revenue within existing strategic accounts.
  • Experience carrying an expansion, revenue, or net revenue retention target.
  • Executive-level communication skills and the ability to build credibility and multi-thread relationships across an organization.
  • A practical, data-driven, self-directed approach, including the ability to set practices for an account portfolio and determine how to reach targets.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with property management platforms such as Yardi, AppFolio, Buildium, RentVine, RentManager, or Entrata.

Responsibilities

  • Own a portfolio of top strategic Enterprise accounts as each partner’s primary point of contact and trusted advisor.
  • Build and execute account plans to drive retention, platform adoption, and expansion revenue.
  • Map account organizations and develop relationships with executive, operations, regional, and business stakeholders.
  • Understand partner use of Utility Profit, including resident move-in, utility setup, and day-to-day property operations, and identify areas of limited adoption.
  • Own retention for the account portfolio; monitor account health, usage, and revenue performance, and identify accounts needing attention.
  • Identify dissatisfaction, disengagement, and churn risk early, and work with internal teams on retention plans.
  • Run business reviews connecting Utility Profit’s results to the partner’s portfolio operations.
  • Keep partners informed and follow issues through to resolution when cross-functional support is needed.
  • Identify, develop, pitch, and close expansion opportunities within existing strategic Enterprise accounts.
  • Find expansion opportunities such as additional portfolios or markets, deeper workflow adoption, and new use cases.
  • Distinguish organic usage growth from opportunities requiring a commercial conversation, and focus on the latter.
  • Develop an account-by-account view of the next source of expansion revenue.
  • Work with Sales, Product, Customer Success, and Marketing to support strategic accounts and share account learnings internally.
  • Advocate for strategic Enterprise accounts and bring partner needs and market feedback into the product roadmap.
  • Partner with Customer Success and Product when adoption, workflow, or integration issues block retention or expansion.
  • Prepare internal teams for changes that affect strategic partners.
  • Represent Utility Profit with strategic Enterprise partners and, when relevant, at Enterprise and PropTech events.
  • Develop fluency in Utility Profit’s platform, partner workflows, and the single-family rental operating model.
