About The Position

The Hydaker-Wheatlake Company is seeking a Storm Services Onboarding Specialist to support the onboarding and roster management of storm restoration personnel. The role includes coordinating with Storm Leadership and company departments to process onboarding documentation and pre-hire requirements accurately, including during periods when large numbers of personnel must be onboarded quickly. The specialist serves as an initial contact for personnel onboarding questions, keeps Storm Leadership informed of roster and onboarding status, and provides schedule flexibility and on-call coverage as storm operations require. Other duties may be assigned during lighter periods between storm events.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in human resources, onboarding, or a similar administrative role.
• Experience in a utility, construction, or storm restoration environment.
• Working knowledge of Form I-9, background check, and drug testing processes.
• Familiarity with DOT and CDL requirements.
• Familiarity with HRIS and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain storm rosters in coordination with Storm Leadership.
• Support the call-out process as needed by contacting restoration personnel and confirming availability as directed by Storm Leadership.
• Onboard storm restoration personnel quickly and accurately, including during surge periods.
• Collect and process onboarding documentation, including Form I-9 verification and tax withholding forms.
• Complete pre-hire onboarding requirements, including background checks, drug and alcohol testing, CDL and driver's license verifications, and customer-specific requirements.
• Enter and maintain accurate storm personnel information in the company HRIS according to Human Resources record standards.
• Coordinate with Human Resources, Fleet, Safety, IT, Accounting, and Payroll to complete onboarding.
• Serve as the first point of contact for restoration personnel with onboarding questions and refer broader HR matters to Human Resources.
• Keep Storm Leadership informed of roster and onboarding status.
• Provide on-call coverage and schedule flexibility as storm operations require.
• Perform other duties as assigned during lighter periods between storm events.
