About The Position

Caterpillar's Large Engine Center in Lafayette, Indiana, is hiring a Stores Controller. The role receives and safely unloads material used in assembly, orders material to ensure availability, tracks material in Caterpillar's inventory system, and coordinates material flow with production schedules. The position is on 3rd shift, from 10:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., and requires remaining in the role for 12 months unless promoted or moved from nights to days. Candidates must complete the hiring process, including the Caterpillar Online Production Assessment, interview, background check, post-offer medical questionnaire, and drug screen, and pass Basic Assembly Training during onboarding. Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship are not available. The position offers a climate-controlled work environment in most areas and a 40-hour work week with potential overtime.

Requirements

Be qualified to safely operate a forklift and tow truck.
Have experience with EIMS, Visual Factory ISS, and MESA systems.
Have basic computer skills.
Have good written and oral communication skills.
Be able to read, write, and conduct business in English.
Successfully complete and pass Basic Assembly Training as part of new-hire orientation and onboarding.
Complete the full hiring process, including the Caterpillar Online Production Assessment, interview, background check, post-offer medical questionnaire, and drug screen.
Be able to lift, push, and pull up to 40 pounds; bend and twist at the waist; squat; and stand on concrete for more than 8 hours.
Consistently use required personal protective equipment for the task being performed.

Responsibilities

Receive and safely unload material used in assembly.
Order material to ensure availability.
Oversee inventory and material flow.
Track material in Caterpillar's inventory system and coordinate material flow with production schedules.
Communicate with other shifts, machine shop, assembly, dispatchers, truck drivers, distribution technicians in other areas, Supply Chain personnel, and management.
