About The Position

The Storeroom and Receiving Attendant ensures that food items received meet criteria established by the hotel’s Food and Beverage and Purchasing Departments. The role involves promptly and thoroughly inspecting deliveries to determine whether they meet the required specifications and are acceptable. The attendant also directs incoming items through the receiving process and supports storeroom operations, inventory activities, and sanitation maintenance.

Requirements

• Valid Virginia driver’s license.
• Excellent driving record.
• Flexible availability to work AM and/or PM shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Excellent customer service and computer skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to sit and stand for long periods.
• Ability to bend and lift items of moderate to heavy weight, with a minimum lifting requirement of 50 pounds.

• Experience with Birch Street and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Compare shipments with the Daily Order Sheet and invoice to verify quantity, price, quality, size, count, weight tolerance, and acceptable expiration dates.
• Submit a daily progress report to Purchasing regarding outstanding deliveries.
• Direct incoming items until they have been properly dated, priced, labeled, or tagged; pricing is performed only by the Receiving Agent, Storeroom Manager, or Assistant Purchasing Manager.
• Price items as purchased, such as per each, per pound, or per case.
• Label incoming bread and bakery deliveries by outlet or banquet function.
• Conduct random spot-checks of perishable items to ensure proper storage and packaging and prevent quality loss.
• Assist the Storeroom Manager with inventory documentation as necessary.
• Assist Storeroom Clerks with filling requisitions and daily sanitation maintenance.
• Assist with the End-Of-Month Physical Inventory.
