About The Position

Wegmans Food Markets is seeking an independent, task-oriented Store Security Specialist who builds strong relationships throughout the store and keeps customer service top of mind. The role helps communicate between the Asset Protection team and store leadership and contributes to a safe environment for customers and employees. The position is full-time in Penfield, New York, with morning, afternoon, and evening availability, including weekends. Starting pay is $32.00 per hour, and the posting advertises a bonus of up to $2,500.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of full-time experience as a sworn police officer with arrest authority in a military, municipal, county, state, or federal police agency.
• Valid license to carry a firearm.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Conflict management and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Sound judgment and the ability to manage conflict and communicate effectively under pressure.
• Ability to maintain composure and communicate effectively in stressful environments.
• Strong technical aptitude, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Must be 18 years or older.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or a related field.
• Related experience, including security and/or loss prevention.
• Emergency Medical Services (EMS) or First Responder experience.
• Leadership experience, preferably in a retail setting.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize safety in the stores to create a positive shopping and working environment.
• Analyze trends and data to implement strategies that maximize sales and minimize losses due to theft.
• Monitor activity to prevent loss, including apprehending and processing shoplifters.
• Foster collaborative relationships with community partners and emergency responders.
• Coordinate and manage the use of all Closed-Circuit TV (CCTV) systems.
• Respond to emergency situations and provide ongoing support and guidance to employees and customers.
• Conduct investigations as directed by leadership.
