About The Position

The Store Manager is responsible for managing all employees and effectively planning and implementing store processes, including ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, selling, staffing, and support. The role ensures the store is properly staffed, operations run effectively, merchandise and inventory are managed accurately, and customers receive superior service. The manager also maintains the store’s financial integrity, safety, security, and compliance with Company policies and procedures. The position involves frequent walking and standing, bending, stooping, and kneeling, as well as handling merchandise and equipment. It may include lifting up to 40 pounds and occasionally up to 55 pounds, occasional use of a step ladder, driving a personal vehicle for work-related needs, and exposure to varied store conditions.

Requirements

Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
Knowledge of cash handling procedures, cashier accountability, and deposit control.
Ability to perform cash register functions and generate reports.
Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Effective interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices, including legal compliance and internal processes.
Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices, including deposits and store keys.
Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations.
Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
One year of management experience in a retail environment.

Responsibilities

Recruit, select, and retain qualified employees in accordance with labor laws and Company policies, and ensure appropriate staffing.
Train employees, conduct performance evaluations, identify performance gaps, and provide solutions or counseling up to and including termination.
Make recommendations regarding employee pay rates and advancement.
Communicate performance, conduct, and safety expectations and coordinate meetings and events related to safety, security, and policies.
Ensure the store is appropriately staffed and opened and closed effectively each day; open at least twice per week and close at least twice per week.
Evaluate operating statements to identify business trends, expense control opportunities, potential shrink, and errors.
Order merchandise to meet or exceed in-stock targets; review ordering plans, seasonal direction, and inventory issues weekly; follow up on replenishment and cycle counts.
Facilitate efficient staging, stocking, and storage of merchandise according to Company processes.
Ensure merchandise presentation follows established practices, including proper use of fixtures, pricing, and signage.
Maintain accurate inventory by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
Protect the store’s financial integrity through cashier accountability, key control, security practices, and cash control procedures.
Provide leadership in delivering superior customer service.
Maintain a clean, organized store and a safe and secure working and shopping environment.
Ensure the store has the tools needed to perform required tasks.
Follow Company policies and procedures and ensure employee compliance.
Complete paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
