About The Position

The Store Manager is responsible for managing all employees and effectively planning and implementing store processes, including ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, selling, staffing, and support. The role ensures the store is properly staffed, opened and closed, and operated in accordance with company policies and procedures. The manager leads employee recruitment, selection, training, performance evaluation, and development; maintains inventory, merchandising, customer service, cash controls, store safety, and documentation; and ensures the store is equipped to perform required tasks. The position involves frequent walking and standing, bending, stooping, and kneeling, as well as handling store equipment and merchandise. Lifting is required up to 40 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 55 pounds. The work takes place in a fast-paced environment with moderate noise, occasional outdoor weather exposure, cleaning-solution exposure, cold freezer conditions, and step-ladder climbing. Regular driving of the employee’s own vehicle is required for meetings, visits to other stores, and deposits.

Requirements

Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
Knowledge of cash-handling procedures, including cashier accountability and deposit control.
Ability to perform cash-register functions to generate reports.
Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Effective interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices, including legal compliance and internal processes.
Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety-control policies and practices, including deposits and store keys.
Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations.
Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred.

Responsibilities

Recruit, select, and retain qualified employees in accordance with labor laws and company policies, and ensure the store is properly staffed.
Train employees, conduct performance evaluations, identify performance gaps, provide solutions or counseling, and take action up to and including termination.
Make recommendations regarding employee pay rates and advancement.
Communicate performance, conduct, and safety expectations and coordinate meetings and events related to safety, security, and policies.
Ensure the store is effectively opened and closed each day; personally open at least twice and close at least twice per week.
Evaluate operating statements to identify business trends, expense-control opportunities, potential shrink, and errors.
Order merchandise to meet or exceed in-stock targets; review ordering plans, seasonal direction, and inventory management weekly; follow up on Basic Stock Replenishment and cycle counts.
Facilitate efficient merchandise staging, stocking, and storage according to company work processes.
Ensure merchandise presentation follows established practices, including proper use of fixtures, pricing, and signage.
Maintain accurate inventory by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
Protect the store’s financial integrity through cashier accountability, key control, security practices, and cash-control procedures.
Provide leadership in delivering superior customer service.
Maintain a clean, well-organized store and a safe, secure working and shopping environment.
Ensure the store has the tools needed to perform required tasks.
Follow company policies and procedures and ensure employee compliance.
Complete paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
