About The Position

The Store Manager is responsible for managing employees and effectively planning and implementing store processes, including ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, selling, staffing, and support. The role ensures the store is properly staffed, employees are trained and held to performance, conduct, and safety expectations, and store operations comply with Company policies and procedures. The manager oversees inventory, merchandising, cash and facility controls, customer service, store cleanliness and safety, required equipment, and completion of paperwork and documentation. The manager opens the store at least two times per week and closes it at least two times per week.

Requirements

Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
Knowledge of cash-handling procedures, including cashier accountability and deposit control.
Ability to perform cash-register functions to generate reports.
Knowledge of inventory-management and merchandising practices.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Effective interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices, including legal compliance and internal processes.
Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety-control policies and practices, including deposits and store keys.
Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to solve problems and handle a variety of situations.
Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

One year of management experience in a retail environment.

Responsibilities

Recruit, select, and retain qualified employees in accordance with labor laws and Company policies, and ensure the store is properly staffed.
Train employees, conduct performance evaluations, identify performance gaps, and provide solutions or counseling, up to and including termination.
Make recommendations regarding employee pay rates and advancement.
Communicate performance, conduct, and safety expectations and coordinate meetings and events that promote safety, security, and policy compliance.
Ensure the store is effectively opened and closed each day; personally open it at least two times per week and close it at least two times per week.
Evaluate operating statements for business trends, including sales, profitability, and turn, as well as expense-control opportunities, potential shrink, and errors.
Place orders to meet or exceed in-stock targets; review ordering plans, seasonal direction, and inventory management issues weekly; and follow up on Basic Stock Replenishment and cycle counts.
Oversee efficient staging, stocking, and storage of merchandise using defined Company work processes.
Ensure merchandise is presented according to established practices, with proper fixture use, product pricing, and signage.
Maintain accurate inventory levels by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
Protect the store's financial integrity through cashier accountability, key control, security practices, and cash-control procedures.
Provide leadership in delivering superior customer service.
Maintain a clean, organized store and a safe, secure working and shopping environment.
Ensure the store has the tools needed to perform required tasks.
Follow Company policies and procedures and ensure employee compliance.
Complete paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
