About The Position

Town Pump is seeking a motivated and outgoing Store Manager Trainee. The trainee works with the store manager and/or co-manager to learn the overall operation of the store, including making supervisory decisions consistent with Town Pump standards, policies, and procedures. The role involves understanding controllable expenses, sales increases, inside gross margins, shortage controls, and promotional programs.

The Store Manager Trainee models professionalism, a positive attitude, and teamwork while supporting customer service and convenience store operations. The trainee may act as store manager when the store manager is absent and the co-manager is unavailable. The role also includes completing daily computer-based records, handling merchandise and inventory, maintaining the store, supporting employee hiring and training, and protecting store assets.

Requirements

• Maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Train with the store manager and/or co-manager in the overall operation of the store.
• Learn to make supervisory decisions consistent with Town Pump standards, policies, and procedures.
• Understand controllable expenses, sales increases, inside gross margins, shortage controls, and promotional programs.
• Set an example of professionalism, attitude, and teamwork in customer service and convenience store operations.
• Communicate with customers and resolve complaints and inquiries.
• Serve as acting store manager when the store manager is absent and the co-manager is unavailable.
• Complete daily bookwork using a computer to record employee, inventory, and sales information.
• Order supplies and merchandise; inventory and invoice merchandise; and key in daily sales.
• Perform merchandising, including receiving, pricing, stocking, displaying, and rotating inventory.
• Complete store maintenance and basic repairs, make bank deposits, and perform light cleaning of the store and restrooms.
• Hire, train, and orient new employees; discipline and/or terminate problem employees.
• Maintain security of store assets and control cash, fuel, inventories, merchandise, and labor hours.
• Maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and complete other duties assigned by management.
