Store Manager Trainee

Farmers Home Furniture•Haleyville, AL

About The Position

The Store Manager Trainee (SMT) classification provides structured training and development for individuals sponsored by the Home Office, with the goal of preparing and placing them into a permanent Store Manager position after successful completion of the SMT Program. The program combines in-store operational training, online learning, role-based immersion, and in-person live training events. Trainees progressively learn, practice, and demonstrate proficiency in major areas of store operations while supporting daily functions at assigned training locations. The trainee’s primary responsibility is completing all program requirements. Successful completion includes Farmers Academy training, three Thrive Program rotations, three in-person live training events, satisfactory performance and conduct, and demonstrating operational readiness for Store Manager responsibilities. Program completion makes the trainee eligible for placement into a permanent Store Manager position, subject to company needs, performance readiness, and geographic availability. Placement decisions are coordinated by the Home Office with Operations leadership. The role may involve working at multiple store locations, managing a store in the Store Manager’s absence, and traveling overnight to other training locations. The position requires a valid state driver’s license. Physical tasks may involve moderately heavy effort, including lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing 20–50 pounds, as well as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Work may expose the trainee to dirt, dust, temperature extremes, electric currents, or toxic agents or chemicals.
