About The Position

Town Pump is seeking a motivated, outgoing Store Manager Trainee. The trainee works with the store manager and/or co-manager to learn the overall operation of the store, including making supervisory decisions consistent with Town Pump standards, policies, and procedures. The role develops understanding of controllable expenses, sales increases, inside gross margins, shortage controls, and promotional programs. The trainee sets an example of professionalism, attitude, and teamwork in customer service and convenience store operations, including communicating with customers and resolving complaints and inquiries. The trainee may serve as acting store manager when the store manager is absent and the co-manager is unavailable. The role includes computer-based daily bookwork, employee and sales records, inventory and merchandise ordering and handling, merchandising, basic store maintenance and repairs, bank deposits, and light cleaning. The trainee also helps hire, train, and orient employees and may discipline or terminate problem employees. The position is responsible for protecting store assets and controlling cash, fuel, inventory, merchandise, and labor hours. A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required.

Responsibilities

Train with the store manager and/or co-manager to learn overall store operations.
Learn to make supervisory decisions consistent with Town Pump standards, policies, and procedures.
Understand controllable expenses, sales increases, inside gross margins, shortage controls, and promotional programs.
Set an exemplary example for co-workers in professionalism, attitude, and teamwork in customer service and convenience store operations.
Communicate with customers and resolve complaints and inquiries.
Serve as acting store manager during the store manager’s absence when the co-manager is unavailable.
Complete daily bookwork using a computer to record employee, inventory, and sales information.
Order supplies and merchandise; inventory and invoice merchandise; key in daily sales; and receive, price, stock, display, and rotate inventory.
Complete store maintenance and basic repairs, make bank deposits, and perform light cleaning of the store and restrooms.
Hire, train, and orient new employees; discipline and/or terminate problem employees.
Maintain security of store assets and control cash, fuel, inventories, merchandise, and labor hours.
Maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Perform other duties assigned by management.
