About The Position

The Store Manager Candidate supports the Store Manager in implementing store processes, including employee supervision, staffing, inventory management, stocking and receiving, paperwork, and other store needs. The role provides interactive development for an external candidate preparing for a Store Manager position and is intended to be held for a limited period. The position helps oversee recruiting and staffing, merchandising, inventory controls, ordering, customer service, store security, cash handling, store cleanliness, and opening and closing activities. The candidate operates the store in the Store Manager’s absence and reviews operating statements to identify business trends and opportunities for expense control.

Requirements

Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including percentages.
Knowledge of cash-handling procedures, cashier accountability, and deposit controls.
Ability to learn and perform cash-register functions, including functions used to generate reports.
Knowledge of inventory-management and merchandising practices.
Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety-control policies and practices.
Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices, including legal compliance and internal processes.
Proficient interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to solve problems and handle situations where limited standardization exists.
Two or more years of experience in a leadership or managerial position.
Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
Two or more years of experience in a retail grocery store strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with recruiting and staffing activities.
Assist with merchandising, including staging, stocking, storage, merchandise presentation, and the proper use of fixtures, signage, and pricing.
Assist with inventory management, including damages, markdowns, register scanning, paperwork, facility controls, and conducting inventories.
Follow ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
Provide leadership in delivering superior customer service.
Model compliance with Company procedures and policies.
Participate in store opening and closing activities.
Ensure Company funds are deposited at the designated bank.
Assist in maintaining the store’s financial integrity through cashier accountability, key control, security practices, and cash-control procedures.
Help maintain a clean, well-stocked store and a safe environment for customers and employees.
Operate the store in the Store Manager’s absence.
Review operating statements to identify business trends, expense-control opportunities, potential shrink, and errors.
Complete paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
